Before knowing the remedies one should know that what is hypothyroidism. It is an auto immune disease. People who develop particular inflammatory disorder known as Hashimotos thyroiditis have the most common cause of hypo thyroid. This occurs when your immune system produces antibodies that process your own tissues. Sometimes this process involves your thyroid gland.

This disease is nowadays more familiar in one third of our population. This is disease is more critical because the doctors are not able to judge the disease. The thyroid is a cartilage that surrounds the larynx. The thyroid cartilage is the largest. It is also known as Adam’s apple. Hypothyroidism is manifested  by. Iodine deficiency and simple goitre, cretinism and myxoedema. Due to this the thyroid enlarges to enormous proportions. This is called simple thyroid. This condition is also called endemic goitre. It is caused due to lack of iodine in the soils of different regions of the world.

Symptoms For HypoThyroidism:

The symptoms of hypothyroidism  are often subtle. They are not specific which means they can mimic the symptoms of many other conditions and are often attributed to aging. Patients with mild hypothyroidism may have no signs or symptoms. The symptoms generally become more obvious and majority of these complaints are related to a metabolic slowing of the body. A blood test is used to confirm this disease

The Food Items That The Patient Should Take:

One should have more iodine diet. It is preferred method to take Cow’s milk, low fat dairy products like cheese, yogurt, ice-cream salt water fish and sea weed such as kelp, Dulce, nori etc.

The Food Items That The Patient Should Avoid:

Almonds, cauliflower, Broccoli, Millet, pears, Turnips, Brussels sprouts, corn, mustard, pine nuts, cabbage spinach etc. This would also be controlled by yoga’s like Halasana (plough pose)  ,Matsyasana (fish pose), surya namaskar (sun salutation)etc.

Home Remedies For Hypothyroidism:

Use coconut oil for cooking is better. It is best to use extra virgin coconut oil. Fresh ginger root slices are added to dishes. Another option to drink two or three cups of ginger tea. Exposure to sun is also best remedy to treat thyroid gland. To regulate the functioning of the thyroid gland.
